Carotid Scan

Carotid scans are performed using a Doppler colour flow ultrasound to look at the size, condition and blood flow through the carotid arteries and measure the blood flow through these vessels.

This screening is recommended for men and women over the age of 50.

Following the scan your specialist will tell you what they saw on the ultrasound scan, answer any further question you have, and tell you the best course of action according to your results.

You will also receive a written report and a copy is sent to your GP or consultant.
