Period problems are the single most common reason why women visit their GP. Heavy, painful, or irregular periods are a common complaint that require an ultrasound scan of the pelvis.
At HealthHarmonie you are seen by a consultant gynaecologist who will diagnose and treat the cause of your problem. The consultation includes a:
- Detailed consultation and clinical examination
- Pelvic ultrasound
- Biopsy of the lining of the womb if required
The ultrasound scan is performed to look for fibroids, polyps or ovarian cysts, and to exclude other causes of heavy or irregular bleeding or pain. Your consultant will:
- Tell you what the ultrasound scan shows
- Develop a follow up plan of care for you
- Provide you with a written report
- Where necessary, they will arrange a referral to another specialist on a private basis or via the NHS to ensure your continuity of care
Following your consultation you will receive a written report. We will also ask if you would like a copy of the report sent to your NHS healthcare provider.
For fees please see our Fee’s section on the left.
Please note that you do not need a GP referral.
